DIY: Chalkboard Art

I love this vintage schoolhouse chalkboard found in Victoria's San Francisco home! It looks fantastic perched on her buffet and the metal desk lamp is a perfect compliment. This would be a fun Do-It-Yourself project with minimal effort and maximum impact.

Keep your eye out for an old chalkboard or chalkboard easel. If you can't find one, paint any board or surface with chalkboard paint to create the same effect. The paint can be found at any hardware shop or Target. Victoria's piece is enclosed in a vintage oak frame, which can easily be accomplished by scouring salvage yards or junk shops for old molding or wood trim. If you're handy, build the frame around the chalkboard yourself or opt to have it professionally framed for a polished and finished look.
