We are staying at The Thunderbird Hotel, a twenty-four room modernized '50s motor inn hotel. Between the unhurried West Texas atmosphere, sitting around the outdoor fire pit gazing at the night's stars, partaking in an occasional movie screening, and nibbling on the Lounge's international menu of seasonal sake cocktails, micheladas, plum wine, aperitifs, and rotating beer selections, I plan to have a darn good time.
I'm a sucker for a good gift shop and this one packs a punch. In addition to the infinite local goods, they also sell woven Peruvian Frasada blankets, Red Flower candles, Malin + Goetz products, coffee from Big Bend Coffee Roasters, Veuve Clicquot champagne, Lomo cameras, and cowhide rugs, among other things like postcards and magnets. And if that's not enough, check out some of the hotel amenities. As the list gets longer, I get more giddy:
• Custom-made furniture by Jamey Garza
• French Jielde lighting
• International art collection
• Malin + Goetz bath products
• Minibars with specialty beverages and organic and locally made snacks
• Wireless & High speed Internet access [I can still blog in no man's land!]
• Vintage typewriter [...OK probably won't be blogging if I can use a typewriter instead.]
• Vintage Stack-O-Matic record players and vinyl library
• Polaroid cameras
• Bike rentals

Paige: I can't wait to see what cameras they are selling! If I make it out of the gift shop, it'll be a miracle.
Librelife: I'll definitely take lots of pics. I hope we have good weather so we can be out and about. Otherwise pics may be a bit boring...
