Road Trip: Marfa Meals

I never finished my final post from our trip to West Texas, so I thought I'd write a few this week on some of my favorite spots.

If you're heading West for the Marfa Film Festival, be sure to start your weekend morning with a healthy breakfast at Austin Street CafĂ©, easily the best food in town. It was quite packed this Saturday morning, partly because the popular Brown Recluse was closed, but mostly because the food is just that good. J and I both ordered the Ken’s Special, hard boiled eggs, black eyed peas, and potato salad. Sounds a bit random, but it was exceptionally delicious and a perfect start to our day of hiking mountains. We finished it off with a smoothie and spent the rest of the weekend thinking about this cute cafe.

Another favorite was Blue Javelina. The fare: International comfort food. The restaurant: a myriad of past lives. Having been a gas station, a convenience store and a liquor store, the restaurant boasts a lot of oddities. But then again, so does the town of Marfa. Lots of Moroccan influences and vegetarian options, we all licked our plates clean. The Lubrication Bar seemed to be a favorite among the locals and the cocktails proved why. Another spot to put on your must-do list!
