Despite everyone's outpouring of support to
"go green," I ultimately opted for the black basket. It just seemed to better suit my bike. Yesterday I added a half moon shaped picnic basket [perfect for carting a bottle of wine to dinner] and now my ride has officially been pimped.
I'm looking forward to a weekend of sunny weather and lots of riding time!

Hey, again w/ the asking for everyone's opinions and then doing something else :)
Carolina: This girl loves to hear feedback, but ultimately marches to her own [very stylish] drum...don't take it personally; I've dealt with it all her life. BTW, she will STILL ask what everyone thinks before she makes her own decision; I've come to look at it more as a "what would YOU do," than a "what should I do";-)
p.s. I LOVE your conviction, Doey!
pimp my ride?
looks sweet.
can i ride in your handlebar basket when i come? I'll start practicing rolling myself up into a tight little ball. glad the wine will be handy, because that'd be a nice treat while you pedal me around town.
deal?

i am slowly making my way through your fabulous archives, but i must know more about the cruiser right. now.
where can i find such a fabulously adorable bike? and does it come in pink? because if so, i'm afraid i will have to go out and get one immediately.
Such a great bike and shows so much personality. When I see bikes like yours, it makes me want to spend a lazy sunny day riding to the farmer's market and later, eating a tomato, basil, and mozzarella panini at a cute little outdoor cafe.
I've been looking at baskets for my bike since last summer and they are SO ugly. Thanks for sharing this because I think I'm going to get the same one!
Carolina: My sister is so right. I LOVE hearing everyone's opinions and thoughts, but I'm sort of hard headed. I can't help it...it runs in the family. Right sis? :)
Erika: Of course you can ride along! If you can't fit in a ball, I'll get some pegs to attach on the front wheel so you can stand and steer me. Perfect!
Ms. Spinach: I emailed you more information about my bike, but it's an Electra Amsterdam. It's so comfortable and so, so fun to ride.
Tonia: We do ride around in our hood to the market and the cafes. It's much more enjoyable than being in our boring car...of course, only when the weather's nice.
Dolce: You can buy the lace basket from SFMOMA. It detaches which is great for taking in and out of stores, etc. Plus, it's girly and cute.
whoa, whoa, your bike is the coolest ever. where did you get the picnic basket? very cool. i wish i could pimp my ride like this but everything (including the bike) would be stolen in like one second in new york. i have to hide my bike in my boyfriend's building's basement!
Joanna: I stumbled into Cost Plus World Market last week to pick up some last minute things for my party (more on that later!!) and that location was going out of business. Everything in the store was 75% off and I went nuts! I bought this half moon shaped basket for less than $8. I immediately came home and ziptied it to my bike and took it for a test spin.
I keep my fingers crossed nothing will happen to it. I'm also pretty cautious because we live downtown and it's not exactly Leave It To Beaver-Land...
I just adore your bike, thanks so much for the link...I'm going to visit a local bike shop right now that has that exact one on their floor. You were a big help, glad you stopped by!!
