The very best corn on the cob in the whole wide world. If you can't get your fix at NYC's Cafe Habana, you can easily make your own:Remove all but one layer of husk and grill corncob. Strip off any remaining husk. Slather 1 part mayonnaise and 1 part crema fresca on corn. Lightly sprinkle with cayenne pepper and chilli powder, top with grated Cotija cheese. Finish with a squeeze of fresh lime juice and chow down. Warning: highly addictive.

Um, let's be VERY clear, Courtney... drool can, in fact, short out a keyboard. Not so thoughtful of you really?
Would it be wrong to have this, and only this, for dinner? Oh m'goodness, Vegetarians...you might have just gotten me yet! ;) Heeeeelllllllooooooo, delicious!
I don't think it'd be wrong, but then again I'd probably want something to wash it down with, say a cocktail? Cocktails and corn. There. I, too, could be a vegetarian.
holy mother. mayonnaise?? looks as fabulous as it does bad for you. :)
Paige: Last time I made this, I used literally less than a spoon sized amount and it was still tasty. I'm not a mayo fan - in fact, it creeps me out. But all creeps slowly subside one you taste this! Tell me you've had Cafe Habana corn in NYC before?!
omg. I had these at a concert a few months ago - they are divine!!
haha! I made mexican corn on the cob tonight for dinner! It is delish :)
Mmmm...that sounds so delicious right now! I love corn that way.
This place is always one of my fail safe home runs with anyone needing a cheap, delicious bite of food. And yes, I could totally eat 3 orders of this corn on its own.
In fact, I might just wander over there this weekend. This stuff is literally, to die salivating on your keyboard for.
swoon! (Thanks for the reminder!)
Little Miss: How jealous am I?! Eat an ear for me!! I used to work down the street from there and my staple lunch was yellow rice, black beans, an ear of corn, and their famous lemonade. I'd switch it up with a trip to El Portal every now and then. ENJOY!!
My sister-in-law raved about this corn on one of her trips from NYC, I can't wait to forward her the recipe.
I would LOVVVEEE to have a few ears of Cafe Habana right now....are they open at midnight?? :)
oh my goodness - yum, and they look so good! i'm making me some of them!!!
Do you think I could somehow franchise that in Australia - Kim and I are addicted to corn and I need an excuse to quit my job ...!
Emma: You'd probably make a crying fortune with a corn stand! I always think about wanting to have some sort of truck food service [think Dessert Truck or the Food Shark in Marfa]. A bit odd and quirky, but fun and full of delicious food!
Courtney: there's a duo of gals up in Austin that run a crepe truck called Flip Happy out of an airstream trailer --- that only seem to work about 3 or 4 days a week! (Pretty awesome gig if I may say so..)
Here they are:

And as for the corn bonanza- I'm a little skeeved out that there is mayo involved in the recipe, but denial is/was bliss, and I'll have an extra order for all of you corn lovers out there!
Holy smokes - A CREPE TRUCK?!! I'm afraid I'd never leave it. OK I am so hunting this little sucker down next time I'm in Austin. How delish. And...I think I could handle working a 3-4 day work week from inside an Airstream. Lucky ducks.
Courtney: I totally agree -- I'm hunting them down next week when I'm in Austin for a trip. I'll give you my review later! Their menu is seriously droolicious, and I'm having a very very hard time narrowing down my selections.
So please please keep your dream alive of a desert/food/whatever truck. I think its a killer idea!
YUMMY!
reminds me of the corn street vendors sell in Mexico City!
STOP THE CLOCK.
where the #%$*^ did you find the recipe!?
