We're back from a long weekend in Florida—a little fun in the sun was just what the doctor ordered! My voice is finally coming back [each time I'm with Erika I leave hoarse from nonstop laughter] and I’m slowly inching back into my normal routine. It's a bit hard when this is how I spent the last 3 days:

To celebrate the 4th of July, we anchored our boat on the infamous Crab Island in Destin. If you're somewhat familiar with the Island, I'm sorry to report the ever-so-classy "Poon-Toon" was stolen and therefore not present.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the beach sans for one slight "boating accident." After watching the fireworks from the bay, we drove the boat about an hour back to the Powell’s neck of the woods. It was pitch-black with quiet waters and whipping winds. Chance was focused on steering while we desperately tried to stay warm and safe:

And then out of nowhere came 3 Perfect Storm-sized waves that literally ejected us off the front cushions and led to this:

We were scared shitless. But we lived to tell the story [with a few bumps and bruises for proof], and that’s all that matters.
We couldn't have asked for better hosts and I can honestly say we stayed at the cutest house in all of Florida! Between Erika’s design talent and Chance's insane ability to build anything with his bare hands, these two have quite the set-up. You may have seen pictures of Erika's office/carriage house [which her husband built entirely], but it’s a whole different ballgame in person. Oh, and what would living on the beach be without a vintage Bronco to cruise around town? Being the sweet man he is, Chance gave Erika one on her birthday [when he also proposed] and now they each have their own! My birthday is at the end of this month in case anyone is interested.

holla'!
love it.
i am unsure about the face I am making as we hovering for cover on the floorboard of the boat. that's not a face I am familiar with... looks like i am really unsure about the sanity of my husband.
was he trying to get rid of us?
i hope not.
we had a blast as always (I can say that "as always" part now).
looks like we are in a trailer park in that last picture.
oh wait.
we were.
peace home girl,
erika
see you in September or October!?
THANKS FOR COMING!!!
so cute. looks like you had a fabulous time. :)
Ok, when is your birthday? Gotta know, cause now you're my partner, forever! Mine is @ the end of the month too! (I'll email you if you don't want to tell the entire world.)
Megan: It's the 27th! So when is yours??? Do tell.... and by the way...I'm STILL rooting around in this box of goodies you sent me for the swap. Umm, this is awesome.
the 24th! One of my favorite people shares your birthday, so you must be good people. July Leos are the best! Oh, by the way, I don't think you're a bitch, I just LOVE the way that soap smells! They also made a Total Bitch purse mirror, which I have. It's printed on the mirror, and once, when I was using it in a bar, some chick passed by and whispered to me, "you're not a bitch", and I was confused because I had completely forgotten what it said.
I'm dying to know what your faves are, but no rush...
sounds like a blast...love seeing the pics and erika's house is super cute...i am dying to see the interior!!
It sounds like you had the perfect vacation. I love friends that just make you laugh nonstop!
Hi! It's Chatty Jen from ABQ. Am I a stalker? I so love your blog, but I am clearly the only non hommie (sp) posting comments.
(Your're not alone,I've been doing the same on Ericas blog too)
Destin...I'm jealous! My father-in-law has a home there right on the beach. I grew up just outside of Santa Barbara. Green beaches on the west coast aren't so much emerald green, but more of a toxic waste, radio active green.
Hearing about your fun weekend has inspired me to iniate a girlfriend getaway with my pals.

Hi Courtney! AM from Boston here. Been reading your awesome site thanks to awesome Erika. Glad you guys had another fab sleepover party! I'm totally jealous!
Hi Chatty Jen!! I'm loving your comments, so keep 'em coming! I'm thrilled to have inspired a girlfriend getaway and I hope y'all share as many laughs and stories as we did. What fun!
Annmarie: So glad you found me and I hear such great things about you...and your home! Don't be jealous--just join us next time. How does that sound?!
That photo of you two huddled together is priceless! It speaks volumes about your friendship. Glad you're alive to tell the story. :)
wow, what a fantastic weekend - jealous!!!
What great fun--for you and the husbands!! *color me curious* Did you all meet via blogging or have you been friends forever?
Wow! I don't think I'll ever be back to this blog again, Courtney. I mean, taking a vacation is selfish enough but then to flaunt pictures and words involving sunshine and smiles? How cruel can you be? But then, to add insult to injury...Erika & Chance? Chance shouldn't buy hip vintage cars for people's birthdays or proposals...it ups the ante for the rest of us and makes us look bad. Stick to Precious Moments statuettes. And then....the link to the post of Erika & Chance's house?! Well, it was cruel beyond measure and I hate you (and Erika & Chance) for it! I hate you! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!
And I LOVE y'all for it too! ;) OMG...the house is AMAZING! When are we going again? :) Yes...I said "we".
OK Beefy: I put you in the same category as Joni from Cote de Texas. If you would have come on this trip with us, I woulda been hoarse in the first 15 minutes, tops!! You're nuts and I love it. And those pics on that link, ummmm yeah that's only Erika's WORK house that Chance BUILT! The house pictured on my blog is their real everyday living house. Nice, huh?!!!
I'm off to pack my bags again. Erika, I'm moving into the carriage house, K?
Benson: We did meet blogging!! We met on our trip to Round Top, Texas to navigate through the antique fields together. And we've been buddies since! ...only now we don't have to say we're "Internet friends" anymore since we've actually done things together. Wooohoooo.
It looks like you guys had a blast! So glad you made it through that storm okay. How scary! You girls are too cute! Okay, I'm off to droll over Erika's work house again. :)
Love your boating accident rendition! I am a regular at boating accidents when my Dad is at the helm - grizwald family boating adventures! Have had a few days off but lovely to come back to your blog and have a laugh xx
too much fun!
thanks for sharing your adventures with us.
Um, I am simply dying laughing that you two have the SAME Target purse that I carry with me everywhere (more so than any expensive purse I have).
That's my bar!!! Oh how I love the Tarpon Bar. In fact, I'm wearing a very styling shirt from there right now! Where is Urban Grace? Is there an actual store front? I'd love to stop by when we go down to Seaside for Columbus Day weekend. Also, I'd love to know if she knows anything about the local florists! We're renewing our vows at Seaside and I'm kinda lost about vendors! Does Erika have a blog or website?
