Musical Chairs

Back in February, I was determined to take this inherited chair:

and turn it into this [piping and all]:

That was my plan until I received the memo sample from Hable Construction. In person, the colors appear more light pink and mustard instead of the dark pink/chartreuse combo I was hoping for.

So while visiting the Fabric Queen last weekend, we dug around in her piles of samples and both fell in love with these two:

Honey Ravenna by Christopher Farr Cloth: This fabric has an interesting graphic quality, but would that fight with the wood detail? I kind of think it'd be beautiful if the seat and front sections were in this linen with the back of the chair upholstered in something more masculine like an ecru or tobacco leather. That could also keep the pattern from fighting with the intricate chair frame.

AMIJAO Sulphur by Raoul Textiles: Erika recently posted on this fabric which was featured in Elle Decor. I love the heavier weight of this Oyster Linen, but I'm not sure if I would tire of the print. It is beautiful though!

This chair would be used in the corner of my bedroom, so it would need to work either as an accent piece or a compliment to my wallpaper. The Hable's pink would have definitely been a contrasting accent, whereas the other two relate better to the patterned wall. So design gurus, what are your thoughts?

LOVE the top fabric, the Honey Ravenna, it's graphic but still simple enough to pair up with other patterns. Can't wait to see the finished product!

I like the bottom print because the green would accent well. Love your bedroom and pup!!

i like the top one but is the pattern too large for the areas being upholstered? if not, go with that one! well, they are both cute so you really can't lose!

hahaha, totally agree with the fabric queen!!!

But since you're asking..I'm a honey ravenna fan, that mustard yellow is my favorite color!!!

Zee frabrique guru from 1637 said save your money cause the areas on the zee chair are too small for the large repeats on the patterns you are looking at.

I like the last one the best...but I'm wondering if the print would get lost with that great wall paper print....

Love the Raoul... like the green in the fabric with all the green bedroom accents. Also... as best I can tell... think the scale is maybe better. Also, might be fun to upholster the back of the chair in a nubby brown linen or raffia???? Love your blog!

im a big fan of the Honey Ravenna and I love the idea of doing somthing graphic on the seat and a simpler fabric on the backs and arms...

The part of the chair that is upholstered is actually bigger than it appears, so these patterns are completely OK in size.

Thanks everyone for your great input. Keep 'em coming!

I think I like the top fabric the best, because the shapes somewhat compliments the shapes in your wallpaper. Plus, I love the color combo. PS: Your bedroom is fantastic, Courtney! WOW!

I think that the brown in the second fabric will take away from the details of the chair. It breaks up the fabric too much for me and think it would look better with the first wider open fabric!

I'd go for the Hable Contruction fabric, it really contrasts beautifully with your chair. And the pop of color would be so pretty in your bedroom.
