During this trip, Smitty purchased a white linen suit for travel at Tinker's request. When they got to Cuba, she wanted him to buy a pair of white alligator shoes to match. They found a pair and my Gramps protested because they were too tight. Tinker insisted the shoes DID fit, bought them and Smitty was crippled the entire trip. Oh, how I wish this photo wasn't cut off at his ankles!

My Granny, Tinker, is slouched over the bar either from exhaustion or over-consumption. Probably both. Smitty is to her left. My great aunt, Ziggy, and her husband, Carter, pictured to the far right.

I love stories like this and with the pics to match, even better!
Great photo and story. I would so love to go to Cuba...if laws would change!
The photo is awesome. Any idea what year?
unreal... seriously. do you think someday our grandkids are gonna think we were cool? i hope so.
Heather, we think it's sometime around 1937, but my Mom is trying to find out for sure! Don't you wish bars were that swanky?!
Love looking at old pictures!
YES!!! Wouldn't it be nice if men still dressed up and women wore gloves and hats? Ahhhh...I think I was born in the wrong era. Then again...they didn't have central airconditioning! LOL
Oh wow, That is such a brilliant photo - its like a scene from a fab movie that i would definitely shell out to see. What great names they all have.
Tell Mom to look at the postmark on the postcard from when they were there [framed w/ the dinner photo, remember?]..the date is on there, but I can't recall it just now.
