Un-Korked

The original handmade Kork-Ease was first introduced in the 50s as a comfort shoe, but it wasn't until the 70s that the Brooklyn-based brand had it's heyday with its cork wedges and hippie appeal. Kork-Ease is still alive today and I haven't been able to tear my feet out of the silver Triad Thong. Hands down, the most comfortable sandal I own and I'd put its construction up against any designer footwear. I've literally walked for hours on end and my feet have yet to ache or cramp.

The fact that they're still handmade is pretty darn sweet and because living in Texas means nearly year-round summer, I'm quite tempted to snatch up the gold as well. If the shoe fits, buy it in every color right?

And if you're quick on your toes, you can scoop up a pair from Shopbop for only $46.50 with free shipping!

thanks for the tip--and great for our Arizona weather as well. Whole sizes only? Go up a size or down? Thanks again!

I'd suggest going up if you're in between.

They're so great...adjustable part across the foot holds your foot nice and snug so you don't have to grip your toes when you walk. And if you have high arches, you will especially love these because they hold your foot upright.

I seriously just purchased those flip flops in black patent leather from the shopbop sale and I'm wearing them right now. They are indeed very comfortable and look great with a variety of outfits. So yeah, they rock.

You know, I had a pair of 4"cork platform wedges in 1973!! They were the most comfortable shoes. I wore them until they literally fell apart.

My mom had a pair of cork wedges in the 50s, both she and my nanny had the same pair. They had a bunch of fruit on the front and straw straps and it looked like Carmen Miranda tripped over them. They wore them with big printed skirts and solid blouses. I remember those skirts, as they all had a "theme." Paris, Rome, Hawaii, Persian,.....

What comes around now goes around over and over again.

You go for it girl! It's called a "PRP"... POSITIVE REPEAT PURCHASE! I have doubles in almost every shoe I own (don't tell my husband... he thinks I am frugal because I literally wear the same "2 pairs" all summer (it is really 4 ;-)!!!).. I buy what I LOVE and when I don't do a "PRP" I always regret it. Don't YOU have 3-4 of the same whites shirts??? Same thing with shoes- go for the gold girl- and I say make it a double!

Creative Tonic: I am dying over here! PRP - this is new terminology for me, but I have a feeling it will become a staple very soon in my vocabulary. This is genius. You are genius.
