We're still battling the effects of Hurricane Ike and trying to get by without power [hooray for the lovely neighbor's air conditioned garage apartment!], but I want to thank everyone for their love and concern. We're faring alright, things are looking up, and even in our temporary home, Lil’ Corn managed to find us. Life is good.

Joyce: Your comment made my day! Thank you so much for the sweet words. Lil' Corn was a stray until the neighbors across the street took her in. She's such a sweetie and always comes to look in our windows - I think she secretly wants to be a Barton! If I had known her owner left her outside during Ike, we would have certainly brought her in.

Aww, I'm sorry you are displaced currently. My family was evacuated in June due to wildfire. It is so scary not knowing if your house will be okay to return home to. Prayers.

I went to the Woodlands the other night and it looks like the world had just stopped moving. It was so dark and the streets were empty and filled with tree branches. So eery! I also happend to see a white utility van surrounded by like 6 cop cars outside of an electronics store - I suppose they were looting - so sad.
