Strike It Lucky

By now many of you have guessed—and seen—the reason for my brief jaunt to New York City in September. I was asked by Lucky editors to be their December "Lucky Girl" and I thank them for such a flattering opportunity.

I mentioned before the highlight of this trip was working with the incredible Anna Wolf. She went over and above to make me feel relaxed and comfortable in a setting so out of my norm! Anna's not only an extremely talented photographer, but one of the warmest souls I've ever had the pleasure to meet.

Writing a blog allows me the freedom to profile artists and products I wholeheartedly believe in, so this experience was certainly different in that aspect. I would have loved to handpick the pieces featured on this page and showcase some of my own favorite designers, but I understand magazines have obligations and demographics they must cater to. So because these picks were chosen by Lucky, here are my own must-haves.

My Essentials:
I appreciate really heavy statement jewelry, both in weight and size. I love unique vintage pieces, but am also addicted to Gerard Tully animal rings and Giles & Brother’s brass pieces.


Because my jewelry airs on being quite substantial, I like to balance my look with lighter, more ethereal clothing. Rebecca Taylor and Jill Stuart always have gorgeous pieces that effortlessly transform from day to night, summer to winter.


Flats are easy and comfortable enough to wear all day without looking or feeling worn down. My favorite splurge being Loeffler Randall.



My Current Obsessions:
Natalia Brilli’s leather horse bracelet epitomizes "a little bit country, a little bit rock 'n roll."


Lizzie Fortunato Jewels Leo belt bag. This needlepoint and leather heirloom-inspired belt is the perfect accessory for hands-free travels.


During the summer I lived in my Lola straw hat and now I’m looking forward to wearing less structured, chunky knits like Mischa Lampert’s cozy collection. Each year, I also buy one of Kate Spade’s Women for Women hats. They are full of personality and the money goes to a great cause!


A few of my shopping mantras when I hit the stores:

• Mixing high and low priced items is a great way to keep shopping fun and accessible. Target and Zara are among my favorite stops for wallet-friendly buys.
• I love items with subtle fabrications and impeccable construction, so I do have to space out my shopping to afford the nicer things I really want.

• I stray from trendy and stick to beautiful and inspiring pieces with longevity because I wear my clothes for years and years.
• I only buy what I absolutely love, that way I never tire of my wardrobe.
