The January issue of Modern Luxury's Houston Magazine features a few blogs deemed bookmark worthy, and I'm incredibly honored to have been chosen as one of three "hipping up" my now-adopted hometown. It's for sure an exciting start to the year!
They're right...you are very cool. :) Maybe you should get a new chair though. We'd hate for it to break and you to be away from the blog while finding a replacement. That would be tragic! Great picture. I love that color on you. Who's dress?
Kate: When I find the right chair, I'll trade this one out and promise to post a "Before and After" to give all of you a good laugh! I bought my current one with the intent to refurbish it and, well, that was three years ago.
The dress is 3.1 Phillip Lim from a few seasons ago that I cinched in with a vintage belt. Thanks for the compliment - I'm a sucker for jewel tones!
I was excited when I saw this on your FB. It's an amazing piece. I loved the pick and the story felt very much like you! I'm so happy we "meet" due to blogs.
YAHOO....!! Courtney- I'm so proud and happy you made another magazine. You so deserve it! I really can't remember how I stumbled onto your blog, but I'm glad I did! You give from the heart and share so much with everyone!! Even "Lil" Corn made made the magazine. You do know now she is a celeb and will be requesting more treats! Many hugs...xoxo
Chasity: All three of the blogs are so incredibly different from one another, which is fun! The first paragraph was on Mary who is one of the writers of http://nonsociety.com/ and the other blog is Cubist Literature (cubistliterature.vox.com) by Craig Hunter.
You look like a doll in that picture! So cute and I love the mannequin! Congratulations on the great article and for having such a fun blog! Love it...it's a favorite I check often!
although I don't personally "know" you - it sounds just like you to give a wink to Erika :) So sweet- and so fun for those of us that have followed you two!
I'm slow to the uptake - but a big congrats! This is a great piece, and yes, I think that you ought to refer to JJ as your "hunk in the oil biz". ... and I do love your whole outfit in the picture - I'll have to hunt down some ebay Philip Lim.
Wow, what a great compliment. You're making a city more hip! Although a bit of pressure - hope you weren't planning on hopping over to the supermarket in sweatpants anytime soon!
Oh my gosh, Courtney!! I don't even know what to say...I'm so excited for you! I blew it up and read some and had no idea you used to do PR for Hollywould! I know a girl who worked there back in the day. Small world. Well, love, it looks like 2009 is suiting you nicely:)
I don't think I've ever left a comment on a blog or website, but I read your article tonight and found your magazine interview and blog so refreshing and interesting. ...and to be in and around my hometown. I'm so happy to learn about it! Congrats!
Brittany: Thank you so so much for taking the time to leave a comment and letting me know how you stumbled upon my blog. Houston is a fab city and I'm thrilled to even get a small spot in the www to let others know about it! Please come back and don't be a stranger. Happy New Year! xx
Long time follower, first time commenter. Really great interview and it's always great to see a "local" girl get some much-deserved press (btw, I liked your feature in Lucky a few months back, too). I particularly love that your blog shows how stylish and relevant Houston can actually be (after spending time in the northeast myself, I became very defensive of my hometown!).
Just picked up the magazine today at High Fashion Home store on Travis. Seeing the article prompted me to re-visit your blog. I've got a lot of catching up to do. Great inspiration! ~Sharon http://e14studio.blogspot.com
congratulations on your recent recognition! i have been a long time reader and this is my first comment... long overdue as your blog is fabulous! i have sent it along to all of my designer friends in houston! keep up the wonderful inspiration!
I was destined to be a part of the creative world—between my early obsession with Fashion Plates and declaration at a young age that Jem was more hip than Barbie, it was just a matter of time until my fondness for design became a career. A Louisiana native, I moved to New York and led the wholesale divisions for Hollywould and Jill Stuart, as well as designed with couturier Ralph Rucci. With my husband and our furry daughter, Burkly Deluxe, we embarked on a few years of overseas adventures in Malaysia. We are now back Stateside “Inside the Loop” in Houston, Texas.
