On Land

Just as we were loading bags for the airport, J received a call that our flight was delayed until 3:30AM. A happy dance ensued. It was the first time in months that I had absolutely nothing to do and not a thought running through my mind. So, we did what everyone should do before heading off for a few years—called family and friends and drove straight to our favorite bar.

Then we boarded the plane with hardly a care in the world and before I knew it, we were on land in KL celebrating the last half of our 4 year Anniversary. In the past 24 hours we've tried our hardest failed miserably at fighting jetlag, visited Burkly in The Slammer Quarantine, driven ourselves in mad traffic to said Slammer Quarantine, eaten a few questionable items, and begun the house hunt. I find myself chanting Change is Good about ten times a minute.

I'm super curious about how you ended up getting your dog overseas, how the process goes, etc. I would love, love, love to live abroad someday, but I could never leave my dog behind. :)

Shannon: We couldn't bear the thought of leaving our pet behind either, so we brought her with us! I enlisted the professional help of Pet Relocation, animal transport specialists, and the process has gone really smooth. I must admit though, visiting her in Quarantine was incredible hard. And sad. It's a pitiful place and the grounds leave little to be desired. The good news is she's only there 7 days!

OH! Tears for Burks! I can't wait to see her reunited with you two, I'm sure she'll forget all about these few days and only remember all the love and attention you always give her. :)

Courtney,

WELCOME HOME!

I'm so happy you, J and Burkly arrived safe! Poor Burkly not staying at a 5 star hotel, but I'm sure you will spoil her when she is out of the slammer.

Hang in there my friend. One step at a time. I look forward to reading and walking right along with you.
Sending you lots of hugs.... xoxo

I keep thinking your digestive system is in for some culinary delights. Make sure and drink the cocktails. I have no doubt they will create a smoother path. ;)

Welcome to KL. CANNOT wait to see the pictures and hear about the house hunt. Such a fabulous journey to follow!

Ok. I'm about peeing in my pants laughing at that video, I'm not being mean, I promise. Poor Burks, she's the toughest sweetest thing there is! It's that Malaysian man saying, "not your dog - ah?" Like, DUH, yes..yours was the one you were talking to before the long walk down the slammer hall. The language barrier, I was just crying over him saying, "oh, nice dog - ah". I'm just so living vicariously through this! PLEASE post more videos. They are classic!

How fantastic that your flight was delayed-- it sure sounds like you made perfect use of that extra time. And I sound like such a cheese, but it honestly warmed my heart watching your video from visiting Burks! Oh man, she was so happy to see you; how sweet that was. And thank goodness she is only in the Slammer for 7 days! Yay for new beginnings; I love reading along already. xo

Your video just about made me cry. It would be so hard for me to leave my dog in quarantine. I'm glad it's just for 7 days. I've heard of places where it's months!
